I got a new toy & I made something pretty for it!

Hi friends! Thanks so much to all who shopped at Sew Chatty on Cyber Monday! It was a fun day and your pretties are on their way!
I took advantage of Cyber Monday myself! I got a pattern for a new product coming soon to the shop…my first “softie”. It’s adorbs. You’re going to love it. I’ll be stitching up a sample for show and tell next week!
Annnnnnnnd….I got a new camera!!! FINALLY. I’ve been wanting one FOREVER and am now the proud owner of a DSLR. I feel so fancy. I got the Canon Rebel EOS T3 and a smokin’ deal. It’s their most basic camera. I’ll mostly be using it for the shop and blog and for general family fun so I didn’t need anything too big time. Here she is! More on the slipcover in a minute…
Camera Strap Slipcover
I’m told I need a 55mm lens and I’d like a tripod at some point. All in good time I guess!
Here are a few of the pics I’ve snapped so far…These are really random so I apologize. Just trying to figure this thing out.

So un-ladylike. She does this ALL.THE.TIME.
IMG_5467
Pretty new fabric waiting to be washed.
IMG_5471
Basket o’ quilty goodness. All handmade by my grandma, mom, and myself…except that mint Sunggie.
IMG_5473
Little man who fell asleep reading his Bible. How CUTE is that???!
Like I said…randoms, but I’m having fun! I took an AWESOME shot of the laundry basket on my dining room table, but I don’t think showing you a picture of my husbands underwear would be appropriate!
Now for the crafty part of this post…
My new camera DEFINITELY needed a pretty strap slipcover so I did some Googling and came across a really great tutorial from The Cottage Home on how to make a nice gathered one.
IMG_5474
Fabrics I chose…pink, gray, cherry blossoms, polka dots…happy.

IMG_5480
I mostly followed her directions, but I ended up not using the ribbon as trim down the middle and just pulling out the gathering stitch. I love it! Once I finished it I tried to take a few pictures for WIWW….this is the best one. Yikes.

…and I’m wearing gray TOMS, but I cut off me feet. I’m learning alright!

I think I’m going to have fun this! Do you have any beginner photog tips for me? If so leave them in comments. I have no idea how to use this thing!

My friend Sheila with Clippity Do Da makes darling hairclips for little girls!

Another friend Gretchen, is here with her lavender heat packs. They are pretty and smell amazing! So cozy!

I have two other vendors selling vintage button rings and Christmas décor too!

If you are local to the LA/OC area, I’d love to see you tomorrow! Stop by for some shopping with several great handmade vendors and some cookies and apple cider too! Good girly fun!

Hey there :)

I apologize for the delay in getting the party started! Lots of colds, and kidney stones, and boutique prep going on around here!

I've been sewing and crocheting like mad lady and I'm so excited to reveal a few of the goodies that will be available at my upcoming shows! I'll give you a sneaky peek later in the week!

{PinterTEST Kitchen}

Hi there and happy Wednesday to you all! I hosted Bunco at my house last night and tested out a cookie recipe I found on Pinterest!

image

In an effort to “pin less and do more” I actually MADE something I pinned! Yayee me!

RECIPE HERE

Y’all…these cookies are AMAZING! Everyone loved them! I intended to sprinkle with powdered sugar like the recipe stated, but I was out. Boo. They are super easy to make. The only irritating factor was unwrapping like a thousand Rolos. I will definitely be making them again!

image

I’m linking up with Jess!

What have you pinned and actually made lately??? Was it a success or major fail???

Have a happy day!

{when I’m sad…}

Hi there :) Times have been tough around here the last few weeks. The little man is REALLY struggling and it’s breaking my heart. It’s not bad everyday, but when it’s bad it’s BAD. I cherish the good days and super wish the bad days would go away.

Anyhow, when I’m down it really helps me to dress cute. Is that weird? If I get get going early and put a little effort into my appearance, I just feel better. Like I’m ready to face the day.

Today is a sad day. But I feel cute so it’s helping!

Urban Turban: Made by Me

Favorite Gray Sweater: Forever 21

Flowy Tank: Target

Leggings: Walmart

Boots: Ross

If you’re feeling down…dress up a little. It helps. So does chocolate. And coffee.

Hope you have a happy day. I am testing a recipe I found on Pinterest (yes it contains chocolate) so I will post a review tomorrow! Stay tuned!

{InstaFriday} a week of real life in phone pictures

I'm linking up with Jeanette for InstaFriday again this week! So many fun things to catch you up on!

life rearranged

1. Made one of my go to large group dinners! French Dip Sammies. 4 Ingredients...3 lb raost, bottle of beer, can of beef broth, can of french onion soup. Toss everything in the crock pot and cook on low for 7-9 hours. Serve on french rolls with salad and sweet potato fries...YUM. Everyone loves it!
2. Lots of boutique prep going on around here. Designed a new clutch with a gathered front and they are ADORABLE.
3. Got a new candle! I love fally candles! Got this butter pecan pie one at Walmart for like $5 and it smells so tasty. I'd like to eat it.
4. LOTS of Coffee Cuffs were made for the boutique. You're coffee is going to be so cute!
5. Lots of crocheting Urban Turbans too while I wait in the car for the little man to do OT.
6. Because there has been LOTS of sewing...there has also been LOTS of Legos.

1. "Dark Vader" with his "Light Saver" all ready for Trick or Treating. Adorbs.
2. Me and my Momma all dressed up for Dancing With The Stars! We had a blast. Got super blessed with GREAT seats and made it on TV 3 times.
3. Guy out front of the studio renting chairs and selling water. If you've ever waited all day for a show taping, you know this is BRILLZ.
4. Momma and I in line. We were first! Really not sure how that happened!
5. The fountain at The Grove. SO lovely. Made me want to go to the Belagio in Vegas.
6. We had dinner at the LA Farmers Market after the show taping. Went to Magee's for Corned Beef and Cabbage...got a side of Mac too :) Yummy.
7. Went running the next day to work of said Mac and Cheese and it was SO windy a tree actually fell down on the running trail!

We had a great week! Hope you did too! Go link up with Jeanette!
