I got all dressed up today.

Hi there! I’m thinking I look kind of cute today so I am going to be silly and post a picture of myself and in my new outfit! I wanted to wear my fancy new headband today but couldn’t decide what top to wear. I had seen this tutorial for a tank top tunic over at Prudent Baby and thought it was cute and I had all the stuff to make it so I whipped up this little number this morning! It seriously took me like 20 minutes! It’s one of my OLD gray ribbed tank tops from Walmart and a fat quarter that I’ve been hoarding for over a year.  Cute right? I plan on wearing my little gray cardy over the tank but I can’t find it at the moment. And of course it goes so well with the Anthropologie headband! I curled my hair and everything! Now back to bleaching the bathrooms…fun times. At least I’ll look cute while scrubbing those toilets!

Anthropologie Inspired Headbands…

I have said it before and I will say it again…I LOVE Anthropologie.  I do not however, love their ridiculously high prices on things I can make myself. So now I am on a quest to make some pretty things that I otherwise could not afford! I love their “Three Little Roses Headband”. So pretty and simple and would go with everything I own, but there is NO WAY I would fork over $32 for it. Yes that’s right this Anthro headband costs $32!!! Craziness.

3 rosette headband

Below are the 2 I made using Goody headbands and some fabric scraps. One is a brown headband with unbleached muslin rosettes and the other is a black headband with gray rosettes. I heart them and because I think you will too, I will be listing them in the shop soon! What colors would you like to see? Do you like the muted solid fabrics or would you like to see a print on those little rosettes? Comment below and let me know! I promise I won’t be charging $32 for them…maybe more like $10!

Aprons…3 of a kind!

110_3164

I completed an order this weekend for our former next door neighbor. She' is in college now and moving into an apartment with a few girls she dormed with last year. She wanted for aprons their new kitchen! I used 3 coordinating Michael Miller pink and white prints lined with some more of the florally Robert Kaufman London Calling. I added a shabby little frayed ruffle to the pocket too. Love these aprons!

Ruffled Embellished Bag.

Today is my good friend Megan’s birthday (lot’s of June birthdays around here!) so I made her this bag. Well, I didn’t MAKE the bag. I got the bag at Target, but I made it cute! I added a strip of Denyse Schmidt’s Hope Valley Wall Flower in New Day and a muslin ruffle. I love it. I hope Meegs will too!

A little weekend sewing.

We had a pretty slow weekend so I was able to get caught up on some custom orders and make Father’s Day gifts too! First up, I made some capes for my friends grandchildren. I love how they came out!!!! So stinkin’ cute. I hope she sends me pics of the kids wearing them!

110_3096

For Father’s Day gifts, I made reusable coffee sleeves for my husband and father-in-law. I have to say, it’s really hard to find man-friendly fabric. For one I used scrap material left over from a bow-tie I made for one of the boys in our college group and for the other I cut up one of my husband’s old Quicksilver shirts that had gotten stained.  I think they look manly enough. Notice I said “reusable coffee sleeve” rather than “coffee cozy”…I think that man’s them up a bit too. Happy Father’s Day!

The little man.

Carter graduated form preschool this week and we couldn’t be more proud! He has been at this school for 3 years. He has grown up so much since he started there! They had a little ceremony for all the graduates. So sweet.  Here are some pics from the big day.

Today is my friend Stacy’s birthday and even though we can’t make it to her party, I wanted to make her something pretty! She goes to lots of concerts so I made this little pleated pouch into a wristlet for her. Perfect size for all the little essentials you need on a date night! Enjoy friend! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Custom Order: Cloth Napkins.

I just finished another order for cloth napkins. The same customer that ordered these napkins loved them so much that she contacted me again and asked if I could duplicate her order!  She wants to go green and stop using paper napkins at home. The colors are bright and cheery to match her Fiestaware. What a fun (and simple!) project!

…please excuse the horrific lighting. I’m burning the midnight oil here…ok fine it’s 8:30pm but the natural light in my office is done for the day!

Good night moon.

A yoga mat tote. How Zen!

110_3000

I finished another custom order yesterday. A yoga mat tote for my uncle’s sister. I could not be more pleased with how it turned out! I finally got to use some Amy Butler fabric. I chose Paradise Garden in wine from her Love collection. I lined the bag with a natural unbleached muslin and I used coordinating natural cotton webbing for the handles. I think my favorite part has to be the exterior pocket. I used a piece of the fabric scraps to do a raw edge appliqué. It gave the bag a soft worn in feel Anthropology feel! 110_3001

The bag is long enough to hold her yoga mat and deep enough to hold all of her other essentials like sandals, water, and a towel. Enjoy Amy! I loved making this for you!

Simple. Casual. Imperfect.

After trying out several fabric flowers, I have officially decided that this one fits me best and will be showing up on lots of my work in the near future (not necessarily in these colors!).

110_2993

It’s a simple ruffle that’s molded into a flower. The frayed edges are my favorite part. They make it very casual and imperfect…just like me! I  mostly followed this tutorial for a frayed fabric flower, but I did mine on the machine because I am way too lazy to do it by hand! Super cute right? I hope you like it as much as I do!

Let the summer fun begin!

110_2924

We had a blast this weekend visiting my stepsis and her little fam up in Pismo Beach. So nice to get out of town for a few days to relax and regroup a little. The cousins made lots of cute memories! Included in the festivities were bike riding, bowling, slip and sliding, 10K-ing, strawberry eating, and wave jumping…Here are some pics. Enjoy!

A Finished Quilt.

110_2950

Ta Da!!! I finished my scrappy log cabin quilt while we were away this weekend. I so love how it turned out. I especially love that it is a traditional quilt pattern with bright funky fabrics and a modern backing, but I think my favorite is the scrappy binding. I quilted it with straight lines on the diagonal with a double line every other…make sense? Now, I just need to label it. I can’t believe I am capable of making something so nice :P
